SINGERS PLAYGROUND PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP Sunday September 12th/12 noon till 6 pm/ $150 The Winchester Street Theatre in Cabbagetown 80 Winchester, Toronto, Ont. Canada M4X 1B2 Saturday July 10th a small group of us will meet at The Winchester Street Theatre around a grand piano. We will have a look at the kind of physical and vocal warm-up that singers need to do their best no matter what the situation they are working in. Recording Studio, Live Performance, Theatrical Production etc. Then we will begin the "Rehearsal" portion of the day where each participant will present something to the class they are working on. As the class watches each singer will get specific suggestions to work and focus on in order to improve the technical approach, physical presentation, mastery of the material and relationship with the audience. Then, after a brief lunch break each participant will perform a piece for the group, (as well as invited audience and auditors), in order to incorporate the new information with a focus on experiencing a greater freedom and power in performance. A small group will meet at the legendary Highways Performance Space around a piano for a look at the proper "Warm-Up". Important things to know about the One Day Intensive Workshops:

They are 6 hours in length with only a brief lunch break so come with food and water! We do a warm-up for the vocal chords too so wear loose comfortable clothing! Singing a song for the class is the key activity each participant must be willing to try. Sheet music is recommended. Know the song by heart! The workshops are built for singers at all levels of skill and experience. The contract we want you to make with yourself is to acknowledge your fears and be willing to work with them during the workshop. Courage is the main muscle we are flexing!
