Catharine has also worked as a consultant for the Canadian Country Music Association, as a media executive for a major international advertising agency, and has taught at the HARRIS Institute of the Arts for the past nine years. A small group will meet at the legendary Highways Performance Space around a piano for a look at the proper "Warm-Up". We work the kind of physical and vocal warm-up that singers need in order to do their best no matter what the situation they are working in...Recording Studio, Live Performance, or Theatrical Production.

Then we will begin the "Rehearsal" portion of the day where each participant will present something to the class they are working on.

As the class watches each singer will get specific suggestions from me to work and focus on in order to improve the technical approach, physical presentation, mastery of the material and relationship with the audience.

Then, after a brief lunch break we enter the "Performance" portion where each participant will perform a piece for the invited audience and auditors, (hopefully incorporating the new information), and with a focus on experiencing a greater freedom and power in performance.

Class is accompanied. All musical styles welcome. Please do book in advance as space is limited!

Important things to know about the One Day Intensive Workshops:

They are 6 hours in length with only a brief lunch break so come with food and water! We do a warm-up for the vocal chords too so wear loose comfortable clothing! Singing a song for the class is the key activity each participant must be willing to try. Sheet music is recommended. Know the song by heart! The workshops are built for singers at all levels of skill and experience. The contract we want you to make with yourself is to acknowledge your fears and be willing to work with them during the workshop. Courage is the main muscle we are flexing!
